We are please to present the ABA Provincial Championship Road Race for 2026 plus the Laurier Heights criterium for a 2 event omnium.

The weekend is also a Team Alberta Selection Event for multiple projects. Riders competing for Team Alberta will compete in Cat 1/2 (men) and Cat 1/2/3 (women).

Community Information
Land Acknowledgement
Juventus Cycling Club and the Alberta Bicycling Association recognizes that the Alex Stieda Classic event, in Parkland County and Laurier Heights Community in Edmonton, is on Treaty #6 territory. The land is a traditional meeting ground, gathering place, and travelling route of the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene, and Nakota Sioux. We acknowledge that this is traditional and ancestral land, home to many First Nation, Métis and Inuit.

General Information
2026 Provincial Championship Road Race
Provincial champion jersey awarded (Women 1/2/3 and Men 1/2) AND you get to wear it for all RR events up to the 2027 provincial RR championships
Provincial medals awarded in all categories: Men 1/2, M3, M4, Women 1/2/3, W4, U17M, U17 F, U15M, U15F, Citizen M, Citizen W
Youth must register in your age group category to qualify for age group provincial championship (U15 and U17)
Increased distances for most categories (it’s the Provincial Championships!)
Stick around for the Young Life Parkland County BBQ fundraiser - cost is included in your RR entry fee
Criterium
Points format: Men 1/2, M3, M4, Women 1/2/3, W4, U17M, U17 F, U15M, U15F, Citizen M, Citizen W
Scratch race format: LAMP
The criterium is not provincial championships
Youth Category
Age is as of Dec 31, 2026
Youth athletes may choose to race in your age group or ability categories. If you are not sure of which is best, consult your coach.
U17 men will be combined with race Men Cat 4, but with separate podiums. RR distance is 88 KM
U17 women will be combined with Women Cat 4, but with separate podiums. RR distance is 74KM
U15 men and U15 women will race together with separate podiums. RR distance is 57KM
Youth registered in youth categories are competing for provincial age group championship. Reduced entry fee.
Youth registered in ability categories are competing for the corresponding ability category championship. Same entry fee as the ability categories.

Two event omnium: You can register in one or both events.
Course record for the Citizen Road Race was 1:30:25 set in 2024. Can you beat it? (37 kph for 57 km)
Omnium Format
2026 will continue with the omnium format – Parkland road race Saturday May 30 from Graminia Hall and the criterium Sunday May 31 in Laurier Heights, Edmonton
Omnium Format: All categories except LAMP
Omnium points awarded to the top ten finishers in the road race
Road Race omnium points: 20,18,16,14,12,10,8,6,4,2
Omnium points awarded during the criterium points race
Sprints every 4 laps, with double points awarded on the final lap
Each sprint lap awards 5,3,2,1 points with 10,6,4,2 points on the final lap
Riders that lap the field during the criterium are awarded 20 points and lapped riders will lose 20 points (or you may be pulled)
Omnium ties will be broken by finish order in the final criterium sprint.
Riders can enter one or both events, but you must start each event to be eligible for omnium placing

Field limits (60) will be in place for all categories

LAMP: No licence required. Riders must be registered in Juventus Lor-Ann Muenzer Program (LAMP)
LAMP
Juventus club training simulation event for members registered in the Lori-Ann Muenzer Program (LAMP)
These events are demonstration events only
LAMP group is NOT part of the Alberta Cup points series
LAMP group will be accompanied by Juventus NCCP certified coaches.
LAMP will complete a modified circuit of approximately 20 km – At Station 6 they will continue south on RR 270. The finish will be on RR 270 approximately 500m north of Gramina Hall.
LAMP criterium will be a scratch format - first across the line wins
LAMP - 2 stand alone events. No omnium
You must sign-Up on Zone4 BEFORE 23:59 on Wednesday May 27
Provincial UCI Licence NOT required.
Alberta Cup Upgrade Points
Ability Category only
Road Race is an A Schedule event - 25, 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 for the top 10 placed riders.
Omnium is a B schedule - 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 points for the top 8 placed riders
Race package
You must have your UCI or Provincial licence!
ABA technical delegate on site to assign numbers, frame plate, and timing chip
Give yourself extra time if this is your first ABA race of the season
Please supply your own zip ties to secure your frame plate and pins for your numbers
You will need to visit the ABA tent to physically sign the startup sheet on both race days
Timing chips
The race timing chip will be securely attached to your bicycle. Chips are not to be placed on the rider's body.
If you are racing the Sunday Criterium, DO NOT RETURN YOUR TIMING CHIP UNTIL THE CONCLUSION OF YOUR RACE ON SUNDAY.
If you are only racing the Saturday Road Race, we expect you to return your timing chip to the Race Package Pickup located in the ABA tent of the parking paddock. Surrender your numbered chip to the numbered chip curtain, securing your chip to its correct numbered location.
Participants who lose their chip, or fail to return the timing chip, will be invoiced $75 by the ABA for the replacement cost.

This is a fundraising event for Parkland County Young Life
They will be serving up a BBQ on Saturday May 30 at Graminia Hall

The Stieda Classic is a selection event for multiple team Alberta Projects. Check the ABA site here.
Cancellation Policy
Once registered there is no refund for entry fees associated with the race.
While every effort will be taken to hold the event, if for some reason the event is cancelled due to no fault of the organizing club, the Participant will receive a refund of minimum 50% of the Race fees.
These circumstances may include but not be limited to wildfire, lightning, snow, hail, wildlife closure and other acts of nature.
ABA policy regarding air quality will be followed.
